Surprises

He’s getting me surprises

Afforded by enterprises

I ain’t privy too, but I realised this:

That he keeps me safe

Holds me in the black of his iris

So I’m never misplaced.

I have two weeks

To broil in an excitement

With no shape.

He’s getting me surprises

Something I usually hate

But the trust creates

This security in place

And I’ve never faced

Love head on like this.

I know he’d never set me up

For crisis.

He’s getting me surprises

Leaving silences beyond the ‘why?’

But the answers come for my questions

Once he reveals the surprise.
