What We Fear Most Will Save Us In The End

This is no world for a child

Can’t you see the dangers?

Keep them safe from the blaze

That’s been igniting for ages

I know your belly yearns

Your heart holds space for the babe

But this is no world for a child

And a child ain’t ready for that pain

But isn’t that the point, though?

War erupts in every quiet corner

Someone’s, or everyone’s, son or daughter

Kindness traded for betrayal and torture

And the documentaries will be brilliant

Entertainment and rage our only resilience

If I hate you and you hate me equally

No one can claim just a little bit

But that cunt signing the legislation

Is a right little shit

So again, why bring children into it?

Because that first wail brings vibration

Erupts the atmosphere

Every little finger and toe

Grasps more than we do here

Let him suckle, heal the mother

Feel his breath until hers flows clear

For every evil exists a counter weight

A snoozing cot that day breaks for

So why don’t we keep bringing more?

Flood the earth with something pure

Something sweet, soft and darling

I look at my son, as he shimmies, smiling

Now this is love, I’m realising

No other word for it, than blinding

If the world is burning

Let the lovely ones feel that warmth

Let them witness baking sunshine

And intergalactic storms

I carried mine, I hold him in tight clutch

Just like you cling to yours.
