On a night train
Watching out the window
Obviously seeking reflection
Find yourself
In all things
That’s narcissism
Find all things within yourself
Slag!
Only way up
Is resurrection
Walked all these roads alone
And only now
You need protection?
Anyway, what do you
Get back from the double glaze?
A slipping do
And a sweaty face
A tattooed chest
Where the baby lays
You listen to the girls at the table
Respond in your head
To everything they say
You’ve seen that show
You’ve heard that song
Know people at that university
Just kind of cool
Without trying
Everything you burn to be
Geezer behind
Got his book and he reads
But you still dim the screen
So he don’t see what’s to see
It’s barren outside
Earlier bright, light and green
Stop looking to the side
When around
There’s so much to meet
Minutes from your station
You’ll be out in that black
And when your feet touch the platform
You’ll stand and look back
See the reflection of your figure
From the other side of the pane
Watch the journey carry on
For your subjects in the train
Quick it’ll move
Long it’ll linger your brain
The blur of your mirror elongates
That snapshot departed
As it captures
A new wondering, consumed
Frame.
