By Me

If you’re looking for that than fair enough

But I’m not made of it, I’m made of tougher stuff

Fair enough, if you’re searching for doormat

But I ain’t made of that

Silence has a brilliant appeal right now

Because everything my tongue expunges

Gets taken the wrong route

If I was wanting to dish out insult

I’d be direct with you

You don’t need to unriddle my tone

Or recognise pattern in behaviour

Kiss my lips and pick what poison

You extract from the flavour

You don’t like my excitement

But I’m indicted for indifference

Just so short sighted and listless

I’m embarrassed when you do listen

Because I know you won’t get me

Walked every road as your ego I stroked

Until my own fire was petrol flooded and poked

And that’s the path it’s set me

The difference is she still digs desperately

For the adoration he promised

So helpful and polite and modest

I tried that approach, encroached doormat

Still got slapped and lost it

If you want to go to war

I have primed my battalion

And if you want someone more like her

I can introduce a million

The servitude probably feels brilliant

But no matter what a woman does for a man

Those high expectations stay resilient

The goal post finds new plot

Gets bored too often

And gentle push becomes militant

But I’m not trying to be gentle anymore

I’m going for complete ruination

Because if you thought you’d struck gold

With a girl like her

You were mistaken

I don’t wanna fight darling, not again

Waste a nice day on a strop

Spoil a good crop with bad intention

Can’t be bothered with the rehash

The venom that we match

The sweet splash that the laps

Of swinging attack hatch

Let’s be civil, meet in the middle

Don’t need to swan our bitter flash

Then you do something interesting

Something that’s

Got right under my skin, actually

You’re fucking annoying

I mean that factually

Biggest piss boiler this side of the Thames

Or even nationally

I was trying to be forgiving

Giving my best go at brushing rugs

Heartstrings left open to tug

Even allowing little outpours of love

But let’s resort back to our fighting

Because every time we’re happy enough

I feel that little riot starter biting

Something funny happens when you love

It’s like your tolerance explodes

You forgive, and forget

Because you can’t keep tabs on every dose

I love you enough

To forget my single principles

But don’t act like my come back

Is mystical

She is so passive, so hands on

Can I relent my aggressive attitude

And let my softer side be strong?

She casts aside your cold eyes

And holds you way too long

Satisfies that submission

And I don’t know where she gets it from

But I know I could learn some lessons

Acquiesce my angry grip

Got so much passion, so much desire

I’m scared to let it slip

I don’t want to prove to you

I’m right where you need me to be

But I’ve never had someone love

The way that you love me

I promise to relax, if you loosen those dictations

I won’t be so on your case

If you stop being aggravating

If you come home on time for once

I’ll put a stop to my ruminating

I won’t love you like a doormat will

I won’t touch you like a punching bag

I won’t kiss until you get ill

Or serve things you’ve never had

But I’m up for being normal

Being happy and carefree

I’ll do it all for you

If you’ll do the same by me.
